i really like the look of this product can i get it in 72", or add extensions?

We purchased the gate for a 71" opening and although it's technically 68-1/2" with the extension in, it seems to work fine. Of course, our dogs are giant breed. If you have extremely small dogs, they may be able to "squeeze" through the small space on the side.

gate depth top vs bottom

what are he depth deminsions of the top of the gate versus the bottom of the gate?
Hi, if you are asing how deep the gate is because of the side panels - it's abut 17" deep on the floor and 11" deep at the top - with the extension panel in it's 68-1/2 wide. The opening we have in is almost 71" and it works fine because we placed it so the gate opens in.

I want to use this gate at the top of the stairs, has anyone used at top of stairs without wall for it to lean against?

I would have to see your stairwell or at least know the dimensions but for the most part, this gate is just what it says it is "free standing" and it's quite sturdy. We have giant and large breed dogs (weigh 158, 110 and 85 lbs, respectively). Since the two larger dogs often "challenge" gates or simply barrel through them, we decided to turn this gate inward between our dining and living room. The gate opens "in" so they are unable to push on it - works like a charm. You'd have to be sure the gate expands past the opening at the top of your stairs but the opening between the two rooms in our house is 70" or almost 6 feet. the gate has a magnetic closure so it swings shut automatically if you let it go and latches. Hope this helps. (The gate is lovely and quite well made). Denise in Land O' Lakes

4 ft opening

We have a 4ft opening from our kitchen into our living room that we would like to install a gate that would keep two VERY strong 25 lbs dogs out of the living room. Would this gate be able to fit into that opening?
You said your opening is 4feet. Ours is actualy much lager (about 70" or almost 6 feet. We simply used the extension provided and reversed the gate so it opens into our dining room and the dogs are unable to move it. Our dogs weigh 158 lbs, 110 lbs and 85 lbs. My husband plans on making a minor adjustment to keep the larger dogs from moving the gate from the side if they choose to lay down in the corner of the dining room. It hasn't happened yet, but it might. But for a conventional 4 foot opening and 25 lb. dogs, I think you'd be fine. Denise in Land O'Lakes, FL
