Leader hose has a kink inside the reel

For several months we've been able to get the regular flow by jiggling and pulling on the leader hose a few times - recently, even that hasn't restored full flow. Instructions suggest that one doesn't need to open the reel - however, that would appear to be the only solution to allow replacement of the 6 foot leader hose.

If by leader hose you mean the length of hose that goes from the housing to the wall spigot then it is possible you have a twist (turn) not a kink (fold). Unscrew from the spigot and twist and pull the leader to straighten out any twists. You have probably already tried this but just in case ... If this doesn't work don't even try opening the housing.

Will the iphone fit in the dock with a slim case

There are two docks. The front (dock 1) is for iPhone or iPod and if you will have trouble with your case it will be here. This dock's connector is in a recessed mount which may obstruct the sides of a case and prevent docking. The rear (dock 2) is for iPad and my iPhone mounts here even with an Otter case, which is quite thick. I do not use the optional provided rubber mat in this case but do use it when the iPad is mounted. So an iPhone with thin case will probably fit in dock 1 but will almost certainly mount in dock 2.

Do I have to mount the hose on a post to use it? Can i carry it or set it on the ground and still use it? I may need to move it around.

Yes you can simply set it on the ground but then you will have to stabilize it with your hand when pulling or retracting the hose, otherwise the enclosure will roll over, it has a fairly round bottom.

What about replacing internal washers? Also how to store in winter?

You can use any coupling washers, obviously the female is coupling is a standard size since it must connect to any exterior spigot.

Disconnect from spigot, unspool (preferably on a decline), let water drain out, then re-spool for winter.

What has to be done to "winterize" this unit? I live in Northeast Ohio.

I suggest you disconnect at the wall and unspool the entire length of hose on an incline, such as lawn running to curb, and let the water drain out. Then rewind and leave disconnected to water supply.

Will the reel hold 100 ft of 5/8" hose?

Your question is moot. The product includes 1/2" hose and would have to disassembled to replace with 5/8", which is impractical. There may be room on the reel for 100' of 5/8" replacement hose but there is no practical way to do this.
